We have been on a whirlwind tour of the Pacific Northwest for the past 14 days on Highways 1 and 101. We drove from Seattle, WA to San Luis Obispo, CA.
1608 miles driven
1001 (maybe) curves in the road navigated (including a few that had fallen into to the ocean)
1 cheese factory toured
Innumerable very tall Coastal Redwoods admired, hugged, and driven through
Lots of trails hiked
Several National and State Parks visited (all the Redwood parks are combined in this area)
2 Banana Slugs seen
8 (mostly) quaint inns and 2 in-law’s houses stayed
Tons of sea lions and harbor seals seen and heard
6 wineries toured and tasted (including the one where our daughter works)
2 birthdays celebrated
1 high school friend reunited
1 new friend from our Egypt trip visited
1 lighthouse climbed
4 parents, 2 daughters, and their partners visited
Lots of extended family members seen
All the fish and chips eaten
Highly recommend. It was absolutely lovely. Watched the Derby at Steve’s mom’s house in Paso Robles, but didn’t win any money. Now time to open the pool, get out the patio furniture, plant the tomatoes, see how much our grass has grown, and work on planning our South Africa trip.
